FIRST ST PAUL TOASTMASTERS

BalloonsIt's Party Time! - Come celebrate our 70th anniversary with us.  On Monday, September 13 at Manitou Station in White Bear Lake we will be partying. Step back in time to see what 1940 was like while you sit down to a wonderful dinner and get entertained by trivia and memorabilia. After dinner we will enjoy some humorous speeches and a travel back in time. The deadline for registration is September 1, so register today!

Who?

In October 1924, a group of men assembled by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley met in the basement of the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, U.S.A., forming a club “to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members.” The group took the name “Toastmasters.” A group of businessmen and politician in St. Paul got together to create the 167th club, named First St. Paul Toastmasters, in 1940. See more in Our History page.

how? At First St. Paul Toastmasters, members learn by speaking and working with others in a supportive environment. Our club is made up of approximately 20 people who meet once a week for about an hour and a half (except in the summer when we meet once every two weeks). Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.
